It was one of those nights when me and my hubby felt like dining out (or didn’t want to cook the food ourselves is another way to put it). It was almost 10:00 PM, so you could imagine how starved we were. We browsed through restaurants on our heads. And for some “special” reason, we decided to dine in Boosog, a homegrown Cebuano restaurant specializing in authentic Filipino and lutong-bahay dishes. Okay. I admit that that special reason is because they served unlimited rice and bottomless iced tea. What could be more special than that? Haha! And that was going to be our first time there, too.
When we arrived, first thing I noticed was the ambiance. I was quite impressed for they had a wide al fresco dining area, which was conducive for a large group gathering, like in a reunion, perhaps, or a random get-together with the barkada. They also had a wide space inside with nice incandescent lighting, which added to the native touch of the restaurant interiors. We decided to sit outside to simply enjoy the coolness of the night. They had an array of choices in their menu. Most of them were tagged as “best-sellers.” It was a bit confusing at first, but our server was kind enough to provide some suggestions. After 15 minutes, the food was served. To our disappointment, the servings were a bit small for the price. And the taste! I don’t even want to start. Spell bland with a capital B. Even their soy sauce was bland, and I’m not exaggerating.
But hey, don’t get me wrong. This doesn’t mean we’re not going back. We probably just caught them on a “bad” day. Everybody has their bad days, right? A restaurant is no different. And I’m a strong believer of second chances. Who knows? The next time might turn out right. So let me just say, cheers to second chances! Burrrp!
